American Football: No let-up for the Giants

As we stsrt to reach the halfway point in the Premiership North season, a winless Sheffield Giants side won’t be too optimistic as they travel to Tamworth on Saturday.

The Sheffield side are yet to win in four games this season, whilst the Phoenix are unbeaten in three – one of which was the reverse in Sheffield, one they won 28-6 at the start of the season.

In fairness to Sheffield, they haven’t done ”badly”. They fell short by just one point against fellow strugglers Edinburgh and Tamworth have beaten their other opponents by much more enthusiastic scores than the 22 difference in Sheffield.

However, the Giants need to press on. Whilst they face the prospect of failing to win this season and finish in last place, Tamworth are again vying for the Britbowl and have little in the way of competition.

Elsewhere this weekend, there’s a similar top-bottom clash in the Premiership South, as London Blitz travel to face Farnham, whilst rivals London Warriors host Kent Exiles. Manchester versus Edinburgh rounds off the weekend.
