Results 26/9/12: England’s netball team put the ‘Sunshine Girls’ to bed

I called it. Ask and I shall receive. The England netball team fulfilled my request and won the series against Jamaica (known as the ‘Sunshine Girls’, if I lost you with the headline), with only 4 points in it. Sadly, there isn’t a trophy to be won or, if there is, there isn’t a photo of it. Shame. Instead, you’ve got this geezer.

Picture from the PDC

Justin Pipe has already won five ranking titles this year and, remarkably, this was his first stint in the Championship League darts competition. He managed to win four group games and lose three of them, but still reached the playoffs and took the most important win. It was frustration again for Phil Taylor, who topped the table for the second day in a row but stumbled in the knockout stages. At least he reached the final yesterday, but you have to commend his opposition.

Elsewhere, a new table tennis tournament began in the form of the Belgian (Flanders) Open as part of the Euro-Africa circuit. Unfortunately, only one of our fourteen entrants managed a win and many of the losses were complete whitewashes. Still, it’s a group format qualification round, so all to play for… right?
