Results 23/9/12 – John Higgins wins the Shanghai Masters

As usual on a Sunday, several competitions came to a close with mixed fortunes for United Kingdom entrants. On the downside, cycling’s prestigious rainbow jersey passed to a Belgian, our best hope in an F1 car failed to finish at the worst possible time and an Australian won a European darts competition. Still, depending on your preference of sport, there was still plenty to cheer this weekend!

Sunday’s Top Performers

* John Higgins – narrowly triumphed against Judd Trump to claim another tour win
* Caroline Kinnane – took a gold medal in her category with two ippons and a yuko over the day
* London HC – took the first week of handball’s Super 8 league by storm, winning by 30 goals
* Tom Sykes – won the first Superbikes race of the day but retired in the next
* Wes Newton – marched to the final but lost to a strong Simon Whitlock
